How to Make Your White Kitchen Stand Out

Most trends go in and out of style, but the crisp, clean look of a white kitchen is a timeless aesthetic that will likely be around forever. It's easy to see why the all-white kitchen is so popular -- a white palette can make any space look happier, bigger, more welcoming, and more sophisticated. However, there are a few downsides to an all-white kitchen. For one, it can feel a little bit, well…. “done”.

So if you’re looking to curate a space that feels distinct amongst the sea of white kitchens popping up on Instagram, here are a few insider tips on how to make sure your white kitchen stands out.

Contrast with bright pops of colour in the backsplash

Just because you've opted for white walls and cabinetry, doesn’t mean you can't incorporate some colour into your kitchen. Backsplash is a great way to inject a pop of colour into your space. Choose a bright, colourful tile pattern for your backsplash to really make those colours pop in contrast to your white walls and cabinetry.

Use bright silver or gold fixtures

Another great way to add some colour and visual interest to your space is through the fixtures. Whether it's your light fixtures, taps, or cabinet handles, opt for a bright, bold gold or silver material for contrast and to help create depth and a focal point for the eye.

Add some colour with a kitchen rug

Looking to add some warmth and texture to your white kitchen? Try an area rug! These days, most kitchen rugs come with linings and are quite easy to clean - hello, kitchen spills! Area rugs are a warm, beautiful and comfortable addition to your kitchen space!

Colourful accents will look wonderful in a white kitchen

Simply adding a few colourful knick-knacks around your kitchen will make a big difference, too. Head to your local antique shop and pick up some ornamental accessories -- jugs, plates, mugs, and so on -- that are bold and colourful. Place these items around your kitchen for little pops of colour that will liven up your space.

Go bold and use pale, beige colours to really stand out

Sometimes, curating a white kitchen that’s unique and interesting doesn't mean adding more colour. In fact, if you decide to go for a strict monochrome colour palette, you'll end up making a bold, unforgettable design statement. Along with your white walls, choose a monochromatic shade such as beige as your accent colour. Add baskets, dried flowers, and wooden accessories as your design elements. This white and beige colour scheme will give you a modern, stylish, purposeful look.

The takeaway

All-white kitchens are timeless, chic, and easy to style -- but they can end up feeling bland if not executed properly. Try using these tips to keep your kitchen looking unique... even if it's all white. ;)
