We're all cozying up and staying home for the holidays.
This Holiday Season is certainly going to be different this year. We could all use a little bit of extra cheer, so our Bloomsbury Design Elves have compiled their holiday home decor, three words to describe their festive style and one decor tip.. in one easy-to-read Blog! Read below for each of their unique takes on holiday home decor!
JACK'S GLITZY & FLIRTY HOLIDAY STYLE
My main floor is all decked out in snow white, blush pinks, & metallic golds to contrast against my Benjamin Moore Gentleman’s Gray navy walls. I would describe this space as fun, flirty and wintery.
In our master bedroom, we have a second full sized 7ft white tree, this time decorated in glitzy gold, accents of black & vintage mercury glass. The combo juxtaposed against our minster green paneled walls and raw exposed concrete ceilings evokes a Christmas in Paris vibe! Our bedroom style is definitely vintage meets glitz with a dash of quirk!
My favourite feature of our holiday decor is the unexpected quirks and dash of personality throughout! Although my holiday colour palettes are cohesive with my interiors, I love finding ornaments in my travels that blend seamlessly with my holiday decor... not to mention, this helps bring a sense of meaning and nostalgia to the holidays! You’ll find these sentimental pieces nestled in the trees or even sitting atop the tree!
A few are from family & friends, a rainbow to represent our queer community, and one that reminds us of a dear friend who is no longer with us this Christmas.
HOLIDAY DECOR TIP:
Coordinate your holiday decor with your interiors in contrasting or complementary colours and stick with a consistent theme of 2-3 cohesive colours per room. Then add personality while staying on theme... and have fun with it!
KASSANDRA'S BOHO HOLIDAY STYLE
I have a small space but still wanted to decorate and give my home a festive feel for the holiday season. When you have a small space to work with... every square inch counts! Rather than struggle to make a traditional tree work in my apartment... I opted for two smaller trees! I put the little trees in boho baskets that I already had, dressed it up with my favourite ornaments and lights.. and viola! Simple but festive.
3 words that describe my holiday style? Eclectic, colourful and boho… just like my apartment! I’m a fan of holiday décor that works seamlessly with the original pieces in your home; they tend to not overwhelm the small space of a condo! In essence, I love items that appear as though they were part of your original décor setup!
HOLIDAY DECOR TIP:
My very simple holiday decor tip is to use what you have, make great coffee, put on your favourite holiday music or Christmas movies and have fun with decorating!
KAITLYN'S TIMELESS & CLASSIC HOLIDAY STYLE
There's something to be said about classic Christmas decor! I love how the traditional Christmas colours instill a sense of nostalgia every time the holiday season rolls around. My holiday style is classic, vintage and rustic/country! There's simply no better way to add charm, character and warmth to your home during the holiday season than incorporating a few rustic touches... hello Buffalo Plaid!
HOLIDAY DECOR TIP:
If I were to give just one holiday decor tip, it would be to hold onto those timeless pieces! Vintage or older pieces don’t have to be thrown out when they start looking old... they just need to be re-purposed in a new and fresh way! They can help add character and warmth, and I love having décor passed down from family members.
ASHLEY'S ELEGANT & MAGICAL HOLIDAY STYLE
I love holiday decor that ignites a sense of wonder and magic into the Christmas season. Capturing that whimsical, enchanting feeling through my home decor is one of my favourite ways to keep childhood holiday traditions alive. My holiday style is traditional, sparkle and elegant with a little bit of fun.... “Oh deer!”
HOLIDAY DECOR TIP:
My one tried-and-true Holiday Décor tip? Add Sparkle! Christmas styles can vary from house to house, but with any and every style, make sure there’s some glitter going on! A little bit of sparkle creates that feeling of Christmas magic!
